My new favorite word is sexable. As in, "You look like a very sexable, young lady tonight." I don't think I'll ever be able to say it if I'm not drunk. But all the same; it's my new favorite word.

Python is the new Java.

I'm considering blogging again. But if I do, I'm going to do it at Blogger. It lets me change things unlike livejournal. That is it lets me change everything, and I don't have to pay a dime. That means anyone who reads this anymore, won't really see any updates. But hey, it's my blog, I can do what I want with it, no? Just a heads up for the (approximately) two people who read this anymore.

On an entirely different note, where's Mood: Constipated at?

So while looking through the latest and greatest to interact with your computer I found two really quirky results. The first was a lovely keyboard called the TouchStream LP by Fingerworks. Apparently this is one of the most expensive keyboards out there because it is no longer made (get one now on ebay for $850). It used multitouch technology and allowed both typing, mousing, and gesturing right on the thing. The other was a gigantic multitouch interactive screen. You can see a lovely example of this right here. The other part I loved about this one was that there's even a diy project ongoing for it right now!

You ask me now: Jordan, who cares about all this?!? Well, for one Apple and Microsoft. Thought that multitouch keyboard sounded familiar, eh? You're right. Very familiar. Scarily iPhone familiar. Apple bought out Fingerworks awhile back and put the technology in their iPhone. I don't know which came first though, the demise of the TouchStream LP or the acquisition by apple. As for microsoft, well their making some strange multitouch desktop. A literal desktop.

Apparently, I'm not the only one crazy enough to try and make my own cintiq. Some other people are too. And they've succeeded too! Hey, I would have too if I had more than a week (or so I tell myself)!

So Zbrush 3 has finally FINALLY been released. And to it's credit it is 10 times as amazing as ZB2 was. And also to its credit it is 10 times as convoluted and retarded as ZB 2 was. For example: you can FINALLY take that sculpted sphere you had and get some proper topology on it! The only drawback is that to put some proper topology on it you have to go through about 10 steps that have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with topology.

Anywho, here are my two "first-ish" things I've done with it. They're mostly just to test out the new features, than actually pushing any creative envolopes here. For the face I was checking out the retopology tool and the learning some of the new brushes (my favorites so far: Flatten and Clay). For the Bird Creature a.k.a. Mr. Chick-a-dee I tested the new subtools features and insert mesh feature(which was awesome and much more intuitive than the topology tool). Basically for those of you 3d modeling illerterate all this triDimentional TechnoBabble means is: I can sculpt for fun without worrying whether I'll be able to use it for animation. Which is awesome because unlike a lot of artists, I like pounding out designs in 3D versus 2D (I.E. I like to sculpt more than draw sometimes).

These are quick and dirty Ambient Occlusion renders.

Oh yea, and I just got a lovely letter from RIT that started with "I am sorry to inform you that you have been suspended from RIT..." RIT doesn't think very highly of me I guess. And finally, as you may have suspected by now from my bi-yearly livejournal update corresponding with the correct time of year and phase of the moon (a full blue one), I'M BaaaAAAACKKK!!!

You know milk is bad when: It has formed a gelatinous substance at the bottom of your unwashed cereal bowl. Being able to A. actually scoop up a bit of milk or B. see it wiggle.

I am beginning to finally understand the R part in R&D in programming.

Oh yea. I am awesome. My last post was more than a year ago.

First off, Suzanne, you are a mad mad Mad-Hatter Prometheus of a tea-party thrower! It's going to be sad knowing we won't be having another one of these until at least christ-mas time or later. But don't worry, I have the perfect solution to while away all that empty and barren time in-between. I give 'ye, the people, BOOKS!

Or rather BookMooch.com gives 'ye books! It's been up and running for only 10 days so far, so who knows what will happen to it. Personally I am hoping for a grand revolution of sorts. This is like file sharing for books. Minus the computer. And files. And umm..copying. But I think it has amazing potential. Check it out!

Or if books aren't your style, you can always see the amazing things you can do with cardboard and waaaay too much time over here.

Oh yea, and for those that like perty icons, ~mattahan's newest icon set, Buuf, is out (the guy who made the Gant icon theme sets; chances are you know what this is even if you don't recognize the name).

It had to happen sometime with me I guess. Near the beginning of my last animation class, my teacher wrote this diagram up on the board:

L
I
N
E

O
F

N
O
Jordan |T| The Rest of the Class

O
K
A
Y
N
E
S
S
I crossed the line.

I really didn't think it was so bad talking about incest in class! But I guess this will have to be another Note To Self: do not bring up incest in class. Not even if it's just implied.

Oh yea, and I'm comin' a home next saturday!

Just finished reading A Clockwork Orange. Now my mind is painfully altered. And next I'm reading A Brave New World. Something I never read in hs, 'cause all my english teachers didn't actually teach english (tho some of them were very nice people, and taught other nifty stuff, none of it was really english persay). Weee!!

It really tickles me that we can't put out a fire! I mean, really, the great human race can't put out one stinking fire? o.O That, and of course, the best way to dispose of a whale (you blow it up , Duuurrr).

Fixed Ipod after 14 hours of trouble shooting. It was the damn cable, and the yamipod freeze. All is good now.

I had a strange dream in which i was serving as a mediator negotiating between our government and alien rebels, and the alien rebels government. And when I say alien, I mean, aliens. Like octopus' and gigantic intellegent octopus' and stuff. Oh yea, and I ate the tentacles of an octopus-alien-drone in it too. Go me.

Today I broke my ipod. I was using yamipod to get songs off of it and it froze, somehow successfully breaking my ipod. Itunes tells me I need to format it, but it can't do that because of a read/write error. So +2 points for Jordan in breaking his second ipod (the first one my mother washed).

What's kool about these images: I rendered them with a new renderer (a renderer is a part or whole software package that outputs your final image using various methods). And while most renderers approximate light, using tricks and shortcuts of programming and fancy mathematics, this renderer uses the actual properties of light (as well as some fancy programming). In other words, it should be called a light simulator instead of a rendering program.

What's not kool about them: the program took 40 minutes to make the first one and about 15 to make the second (and the shorter time span for the second one shows in the graniness).

Conclusion:
Maybe if I finished my projects really ahead of time, and gather a few extra computers together for it, it could pooosssssibly work. Unfortunately, all of that is a dream, so while it's a nice concept, I'll probably have to learn the tricks of the other programs to get faster, less accurate results.

I've wondered for awhile now, what happens when a girl becomes a prono star and her parents find out? o.O

Gah, two days ago my computer was driving me crazy! Somehow my video drivers fucked up again, and I couldn't do shyat in Maya, which is what I had to use to do my homework (OMG, how cool is that, my homework is in the program that used to be purely a source of entertainment). I managed to finsih my work somehow with my computer responding for only about 5 seconds of every 20. Then today it was Nick's amazing hack'd drivers to the rescue and everything works smoooooothe. THANK YOU NICK!!!

For anyone curious what the hell I've been doin' this year schoolwise an' such, here's some 3D shtuff I did. The character is something the teacher made and we're required to use. I present to you, the walk cycle, the character must lift a primitive cube scene, and ...golf.

Oh yea and...am I insane?

I don't know if this is sheer genius, or an example of how the film industries standards are falling...

Also, Woody Allen has ceased to even bother with naming the massive amounts of movies he produces each year and is calling his next film Untitled Woody Allen Fall Project 2006, I mean really, it sounds like a student that forgot to name his film project before turning it in. O.o
